While the Department of Education and Science paid a grant to the parents out of which a qualified teacher was ultimately paid, a necessary nexus between the teacher and the Department, that would afford her legal standing to maintain a claim under the Protection of Employees (Part-Time Work) Act 2001, could not be established by the Labour Court.
